I guess the saying is true... all good things must come to an end. I have had a pretty regular week, following my usual routines and working at the campsite and on the farm for the last time. It was bittersweet as I enjoyed my final nights at El Niño Guest House. It was a time of transition for everyone as we discovered that our landlord hadn't been paying the property tax. As a result, those who were staying longer in Kasese had to move to a new house with very short notice. Despite the unexpected change, we tried to make the most of our last week and contribute as best we could.
Expressing how meaningful and enjoyable this experience has been is difficult. On the first day, I was a bundle of nerves, feeling a mix of excitement and fear due to so many new faces and places. Now, on my last day, it all feels unreal. I've become familiar with these streets, laughed in familiar places, and saying goodbye to the locals kinda hurt. It's incredible how this place, originally just a spot on the map, has turned into something so memorable. I'm grateful for the group I lived with and all the people I met through REEC. I will never forget these experiences and the way they made me feel.
